How did USA emerge as a super power?[pic 1]
There are many reasons why USA emerged as a super power after WW2. The use of atomic bomb certainly was a point of realisation for other countries that USA is not to be messed with. Although this is contributes to USA being a super power, there are other reason why they emerged as a super power.
USA emerged as a super power because of USA’s untouched infrastructure by the Axis powers. During the war, European countries like France, Germany, and England etc. were hit hard by the bombings. This destroyed thousands of home and historic monuments and buildings. However, USA weren’t attacked by Axis bomber which meant that their infrastructure remained untouched. This was a massive factor which contributed to USA being a super power because after the USA gave out loan to European countries to rebuild their infrastructure which meant they were already ahead of other countries as they didn’t have to worry about rebuilding their country.
Secondly, although this may sound strange but USA came out of the war making a profit. Before the war, USA was in depression and their economy was hit hard but the war in Europe meant that Allies demanded for military equipment. USA produced military vehicles, guns and ammunitions to the Allies which meant that not only the whole country was in employment with only little unemployment they also made money out of it. This money not only brought USA out of the depression but they made profit out of it.
Another reason was because of their standing army. After the war USA had 1.5 million standing army ready for movement. This meant that they could be mobilised very quickly as they were well fed, trained and ready for action.
