How to Tie A Shoe, When You First Learn

When you were a little kid whoever bought your shoes always bought you the ugly Velcro ones that most always had some kind of cartoon character on them or lit up when the shoe hit the ground. Then one day you decided you weren't a little kid anymore and the cartoon character or light up shoes weren't cool enough for you. So off the person who bought your shoes went to buy "big kid shoes". But, there was a problem, you didn't know how to keep them on your feet without tripping over those weird looking strings. So the shoe buyer went through step-by-step teaching you how to tie your shoes. At the time it seemed like it was an impossible task to accomplish, and it may even still be for some people. Maybe this way will help the young and old that can't tie their shoe learn how or finally learn how to tie their own shoe!

The first step is tying your shoe is to pull both strings to make your shoe a comfortable fit. For some it may be real loose, but for others it may be really tight. But either way, you pull the strings up. Next, you make an "X" with the two strings. Then, take the string on the top of the "X" and pull it through the bottom half of the "X". Then you have a funny looking two-branched tree. Pull the two strings so that the only thing left "standing" is the two strings. Next, pick up one of the strings, it doesn't matter which one as long as you are comfortable with it, with this string you are going to make a "bunny ear" or loop, whichever you would like to call it. Hold the "bunny ear" at its base with your thumb and pointer finger. Next, take the string that is left and go around the base of the "bunny ear" and your two fingers. When you get all the way around, take the string and use your other pointer to push the string underneath the other bunny ear. As you do this, move your thumb out of the way. Finally, use the newly freed thumb to help pull the newly formed "bunny ear" into its place. Your end result of this should look like a bow. If it looks like a bow, you have mastered tying a shoe! After you have mastered the basic steps of tying a shoe, you can tie knot. Tying a knot is very simple! It doesn't have quite as many steps to it. All you do is take the two "bunny ears" and "tails" that are on each
