Conclusion: The color of light used on plants does affect how well they grow. Our hypothesis was proven incorrect.
Applications: Over the course of this experiment, we gained a greater overall knowledge of plants and their growth and enjoyed observing the changes that occurred throughout. Instead of thinking of this science fair project as something to rush and get over with, we discussed our interests and eventually came up with a problem that kept both of us eager to solve. Not only did science fair allow people to work with people they enjoyed being with, but also served as a great learning experience and better prepared our group for high school science courses. In the future, we will now know for a fact that natural sunlight is the best bet for a plant to grow successfully because it contains the full spectrum of color wavelengths, rather than a light of a single color. We can take this information and share it with people that may be helped by it, such as scientists, gardeners, farmers, or even friends or family members that work outdoors often. In order to follow up this conclusion, this investigation should be repeated and continued by scientists with more sufficient variables, such as bulbs with higher watts, more plant types, etc. to specify and create more accurate results.
