The book is about four collage age friends that in the previous summer while driving on a winding road struck and killed a boy on a bicycle. They did not stop because they were scared. One year later they got a letter in the mail and it read, I know what you did last summer. At first they thought it was a prank, but they soon realized when they started getting killed that it wasn't.
The main character's name is Julie. Julie was scared because she started thinking about the past after receiving a letter that said, "I know what you did last summer." Julie would not talk to anyone about it. Julie is a very person.
Julie at first did not want to talk about what was going on. Then Ray finally made her talk to him about what was really happening. Julie got braver after she saw the newspaper clipping about where the boy that got killed lived. When she wanted to go and check out where the boy lived, Ray started to think she was crazy.
Julie is no longer the quiet one. After being so scared of what may happen to her she had no problem at the end of the story expressing her thoughts. Ray and her survived the killings by finally being open with each other.
I don't agree with Julie and her friends getting in this situation to begin with. If something like this ever happened to me, I know the only thing to do is to report it. If someone you are with does not agree you must make them understand that you are right. And I also learned that even if you think you are alone, chances are someone is watching you.
