1. Brief description of this location.
The website informs the readers about an expedition a group of archeoligost did in 1996 in Peru in the mountain of Sara Sara. The reason for the expedition was to discover new mummies trapped in the summit of the mountain preserved in ice over 500 years. The mummies are said to be sacraficial childs. The website also mentions a mummie that had previously been found called Juanita. She was well preserved by the ice for over 500 years. The site also brings up intresting dilemas as to who owns the mummies and the moralality of disturbing mummies rest. Lots of valuable information on preservation of mummies and rituals of different cultures are mentioned as well. Also gives information on what was the mummies last meal and how they come aobut that answer.
2. An evaluation of the specific focus of this assignment.
The website gives you step by step information like a journal kept of the trip. Most of the information is very accurate but outdated as its 14 years old. The website could have used more interaction with the surfers, maybe vivid videos and more images that can be blown up fullscreen. Easier surfing could also be had. Didn't seem too user friendly. But the content itself had good information about he mummies history and how they are preserved. The morality of awakening mummies from their eternal rest is touched in the website and really makes you think, what if hundreds of years in the future we are dug up for reasearch. How will relatives feel about it?. Also the fact that in order to study a mummie most of the time it has to be destroyed, which is contoversial. Russian archeologist discovered a mummy in ice which as soon as the ice melted and saw sunlight for the first time in so many years, the mummy started decomposing fast. Clear example of the damage that can be had in the name of science. Theres always give and takes for everything in life.
3. Would you recommend this site? Why or why not?
I would recommend the site for refrence. The fact being that its way outdated compared to most modern websites and documentary videos. I would recommend if Sarita was to be researched. Its like an old encyclopedia that sits on the bookshelve for years. New technology
