Integrity

There are many virtues in today's society. Although, in my opinion integrity is the greatest. It is our duty to show integrity in our personal lives as well as out in society. Integrity may mean different things to each individual person.
Integrity as defined by the American Heritage Dictonary of the English Language fourth edition states, "adherence to a strict moral, ethical code." I believe this and also that integrity is doing what we say we are going to do.
In my personal life I have always tried to show integrity by being honest to my friends, family, and accuantiences. When my father would ask me to do a chore or be at a certain location I would obey him and not lie about my whereabouts, With friends and accuaintences I always followed through with what I volunterred or promised them I would do. Now it is my duty to install this same credibility in my children, so that the cycle can continue and they themselves can also grow up to be as trustworthy as myself.
Over the past several years in Texas alone we have seen some poor showings of integrity in the public area. Enron Corporation was always thought of as a very upstanding corporation with thousands of employees. They hid major indescritions in their bookeeping, which in turn led to the downfall of th company in which thousands of employees lost their jobs. Another show of poor integrity is professional baseball player Rafael Palmeiro of the Texas Rangers
