Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to welcome you to our beautiful island and congratulate you for choosing Cyprus for your holidays and your wish to meet our civilization our people and our culture. Before you start your trip I am going to try and introduce you the beauty of Cyprus and I am sure that you will not be disappointed.
Cyprus is the third largest island, it is located in the Mediterranean Sea and it is called the diamond of the Mediterranean Sea. Aphrodite the goddess of beauty was born in Cyprus and that's why it is also called Aphrodite's island. Throughout antiquity travelers came here to pay her a tribute. Today Cyprus is a modern country that combines European culture with ancient enchantments.
Cyprus is blessed with beauty, natural beauty. The climate in Cyprus is warm in the summer and rainy in the winter, but our winter is not very long or very heavy and therefore you can enjoy sun and sandy beaches most of the time. Every season has a charm and beauty of its own. Here you will discover a compact place of fascinating golden beaches and high mountain peaks like Troodos with delightful hill resorts and traditional hotels. There are also a lot of vineyards and attractive and beautiful olive trees. A variety of plantations gives to the island a picture of flourish and blossom everywhere.
Since the ancient times, the Greeks were giving a great importance to Athletics, and they were proud of the achievements of their athletes. The tradition did not die. Well-equipped Gymnasiums and Stadiums are built in various parts of the island and many well-known athletes take advantage of their installations for their training during winter months.
You can also admire the imposing ancient monuments and learn about Cyprus history that will give you a good perspective of what Cyprus Island is all about. There are also a lot of ancient ruins that will make your imagination and curiosity ask many different questions, like What happened? or Why is this place in ruins? Besides the monuments you can also visit The Stone Villages where people there will treat you with great hospitality. Cypriots will capture you with their warm, friendly, and kind manners.
They will be willing to meet you and therefore you will be able to learn more about their culture, morals and customs.
