Is China a Classless Society?
In china they claim to be communist, or a classless society. They might have been years ago, but now it's a different story.
The housing that the Chinese people live in varies in a number of different ways, from really small run down, overall shabby houses. Others in Beijing had houses no bigger than the size of one room in a normal house in the U.S. In other parts of Beijing, people lived in nice skyscrapers that were turned into apartment buildings. Many others lived in tents and were overcrowded. In Turpan, most people were seen sleeping outside of their homes. While people in Kashgar had huge beautiful apartments. In Shanghi, there were nice apartments and small huts. Just from the housing developments you can see a range of classes.
The people of China also varied. There were nice classrooms of children that weren't poor. Then when you go out onto the street and you see homeless people, people sleeping on giant brooms, and people collecting bottles for money. Almost all of the kids had their heads shaved, even if they were girls. While the majority of the people in China are poor, there are some whom are wealthier. A few people had on nice clothes and carried purses and looked as though they were in business. These peoples children were well dressed and had hair.
There is also a wide variety of transportation in China that shows different classes. The most common means of transportation in the city of China are taxies and a few cars. In the rural areas however, people get around by horse carriages, donkeys, camels, and wagons. The wealthier people ride on Ferrier boats, nice horse carriages, charter buses, speed boats and motorcycles.
As you can see China today is not Classless. Although the majority of the people are poor, there are also those who are wealthy.
