I have submitted two advertisements. The first advertisement is Lectric Shave, Sports Illustrated Issue Dec '04 Ð'- Jan '05. The second advertisement that I am submitting is a Camel Cigarettes advertisement, Camel Industries in Mail advertisement Jan '05. In this paper there will be a discussion of what is in an advertisement, and if it is related o the product in any way.

The first advertisement that we'll look at is Lectric Shave, this ad is trying to sell a shave aid, to "Make a smooth contact every time". In a way the product is related to the picture by making smooth contact between his face, and her breasts. Other then that, if you were to just look at the picture you would not know what was being sold just by the picture itself. So it is not related to the advertisement in any way. The number of ads that I found to be sexually related in Sports illustrated was only 6.

The second advertisement is Camel Cigarettes, "There is pleasure in your future" The add is trying to sell cigarettes, the product is in no way related to the picture there is no sight of cigarette, only a beautiful woman on the page with the words "There is pleasure in your future" On the opposite side of the advertisement there is cigarettes, but not on the side with the sexy woman. This is the only add in the Camel mail ads that are sent to homes of smokers.

I didn't ever realize exactly how much sex was in advertisements tell I started looking for ads for this project. I don't think that using sex to sell items is a bad thing it has been used for years and will continue to be used for decades more I am sure.

Sexual selling devices such as advertisements, have little effect on me personally I have such and unconscious thought to them that I rarely recognize them except for maybe weight control methods such as Hydroxycut there was an add that said do you want my body and it was a relatively good looking woman with what looked like to have had significant weight change, it made me want to look like her all skinny and muscular, so in a way sex sold to me.

Advertisements don't make an influence on how I see sexuality it makes me like sexuality and opened
