It started out as a normal day until Mid-morning when terrorists decided to attack the United States of America on September 11, 2001. The terrorists were Islamic extremist group knows as Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda first attack the world trade center then they hit the pentagon then there was supposed to be a third plane that was possibly going to take out the White house but because of Technology American’s took down the third plane in PA. This Attack caused a state of panic and concern because we never thought that something like this would happen on home soil. “The attack was supposedly because of the United States support of Israel and the involvement in the Persian Gulf War and the Military Presence in the Middle East.”
I believe this has a major influence on society because now we have stricter rules and regulations on how you can fly and the security to get on a plane is more extensive now. We also give a bigger increase on security during major sporting events in America in temps to deter another attack from happening. Another thing that has had an impact because of this attack is the process to get and receive a passport to leave and enter the United States.
I chose this topic because it really hits home to me because I was born in NY and I have family that still lives in NY and died because of the Attack. I think the importance of this event made the United States more aware that an Attack or something bad can happen at any time and form anywhere. I hope nothing like this ever happens again but you can never guarantee that something like this won’t happen again and that the culture of America or another country will ever be the same.
