Jack London
Jack London was a writer. To understand him better we need more background on him. Jack's father is William chancy. He was an astrologist and a no body to jack. He denied being Jack's father for as long as he lived. (Schroeder, p20) Before he was an astrologist he was a lawyer. (Sunsite, p1) He ran away when jack when flora got pregnant. Flora got depressed and tried to kill her self but failed. 1st she took pills but nothing happen. Then she shot her self in the head it glanced off her she went to the hospital. (Schroeder, p20) She remarries to John London in 1876. Then she moves to Oakland. (Sunsite, p1) John London was a workingman. He worked as a salesman but the war injury cause him to quit. (Schroeder, p20) Then he worked as a farmer in Oakland. (sunsite ,p1) He fought in the civil war that caused an injury to his lungs. (Schroeder, p20)
Jack liked books even when he couldn't read he looked at the pictures. Jack was seen with books on hand (Schroeder, p24). He learned to read and write in Oakland. (Sunsite, p1) He had a lot of jobs like oyster pirating. Oyster pirating was good for him until the drinking life style caught up with him and caused him to quit. He got so drunk he got alcohol poisoning and almost died. Then he joined the California fish patrol and that involved drinking to so he quit that too. Then a friend got him on the Sophia Sutherland sealing trip as a seaman. When he got to the sealing part of the trip he couldn't stomach the killing. (Schroeder, 33-36)
He wrote John Barleycorn, the sea wolf, and a thousand deaths. (Jack London.com) He wrote more but these were the main ones. John barleycorn is about his experiences with alcohol. It was made in 1913. The sea wolf was made from his sealing experience. (Schroeder, p24) A thousand deaths 1st book published made in 1899. (Jack London.com)
His influences were his mom and his experiences. His mom was a racist so it rubbed off on him. He didn't take to all racist views. He wrote of his experiences with alcohol and other things. He probably wrote about things he read or saw in his life. (Sunsite, p2)
His family kept him a writer so he can work. He wrote a lot of books in his life. Books like sea wolf and John Barleycorn. His influences made him an interesting writer in his lifetime.
