A musical legend was born on December 25, 1946 in Pascagoula, Minnesota. His name is James William Buffett. Buffett grew up in Mobile, Alabama where he attended a catholic school, McGill-Toolen and attended Auburn University. Then, he received a Bachelor or Science degree in history from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1969. Jimmy was a brother of Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Before signing a recording contract with Barnaby Records in 1970, Jimmy lived in Nashville and wrote articles for Billboard for a living. A few years later, Jimmy married his second wife, Jane Slagsvol from Columbia, South Carolina, and they had three children, one son named Cameron and two daughters named Savannah Jane and Sarah Delaney. Now, Buffett lives in Palm Beach, Florida, also resides in Key West and Long Island and maintains an apartment in New Orleans and own a farm/ranch near Orlando.
Buffett has recorded over thirty albums. He has many hit singles, two of which are Margaritaville and Come Monday. He is the author of three best-selling books--Tales from Margaritaville, Where is Joe Merchant? and A Pirate Looks at Fifty and is one of three authors to ever have a number one best-seller on the fiction and non-fiction list.
Jimmy Buffett has loyal followers called "Parrotheads" who are among the most devoted fans in the music industry. Like many singers/songwriters, Jimmy Buffett credits his success to pure luck!
