This article was very interesting to me because I realized now how important is the role of parents in the schools of their children. I did know that parents should be in constant contact with their child's teacher in how they are doing with their behavior and their academic learning, in order for them to determine if the child merits rewards or punishments at home or if the child needs extra help in a specific subject. Also, according to this article programs for early childhood education should research and take in consideration the environment the child will be exposed. It was very interesting to learn that in early childhood education is very crucial the environment of a school; connections between home and school should exist. Now I understand why some preschool facilities offer such homelike environments.
I never put on much attention on the environment of a school. It didn't cross through my mind that environment in a school can affect cognitive and social functioning on a child (Silvern 148). This article has provided me information that will benefit me along in my education career and also as a future parent. As a future teacher, which I am only beginning in this wonderful career, now I know to keep in mind the environment I will provide to my students.
I do agree with every aspect of this article. In early childhood programs, educators should take in consideration the environment they will provide to the children. Besides parents being actively involved in their children school, schools should also incorporate continuities of home, which will successfully allow children to make better sense of the world. It is inspiring to see when parents are in constant communication with the teacher, this not only provides the parents feedback of their child, but also gives security to the child as well.
