"Hit it," I said to the floating boat in front of me. Thinking to myself what did I get myself into this time? Will I survive this? Will it be fun? What am I going to get out of this? If only I knew the answer to that question before I even jumped in the water. The boat starts roaring out of the water. Here comes the jerk, a jerk that you think you are so ready for but when it hits you, you have no idea what just happened until you realize that you are being pulled out the water by this machine that has one objective in mind and one thing only and that is to get you up on top of the water.
It all started with my mother calling me up on the telephone telling me that I need to quite my job and move down to Glendo.
"You would love it so much, plus there are hot guys here."
"Hold up, what are you talking about, you want me to move down there and leave
everything up here, to go work down there."
"Well, yeah what is so wrong with that, and you will be with me."
So of course never wanting to disobey the mother figure, I quite my job, filled the car up with gas, and drove the two hour drive to Glendo, Wy.
One stipulation to me moving down there was that I wanted my own house. I was not going to live with my mother; we would kill each other by July. The next day I had my own house with no questions asked. My mom understood that I needed my own space and that she wanted me to feel as independent as possible but still be under her eye and if giving me my own house was what it took than that's what she would do.
The first day of work was very interesting in its self. Besides walking into this whole situation with absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into, the first day had to be the worst. With all the "Who is she" and the "What is she doing here." It was really hard not to just come across as a stuck up girl who is not me at all but with them acting the way they were it made things real difficult. Meeting everyone was interesting also. There was two waitresses, a cook, a dishwasher in the cafÐ"©, a man in the ship store, one mechanic, one sales person, one person that ran the front at all times, one maintenance boy and four dock hands. All these people made up the staff at the marina except the boss.
Renea Hall, a woman that should have her own country named after her. She is one of those ladies that you would not want to piss off or get on her bad side. Now don't get me wrong she is a very attractive lady and could get along with anyone that she wanted to. But just imagine a twig that is very blessed on the upper half. Later I found out that she had had a boob job and that's why she looks so skinny. She has this poster on her office door that says "Do you want to talk to the man in charge or the women who knows what's going on." That is so her and her husband Shawn. Shawn might walk the walk but Renea talks and walks the walk around the marina. So if you have a question about anything you go to Renea.
I was put in charge of the dock boys and was supposed to be anywhere at any time where ever I was needed was where I was supposed to be. Now you would think that being put in charge of a bunch of dock hands would be easy and really interesting. Well it probably would have been if they had not been 16, 17, 18, and 45 year old boys. Okay so you put me an 18 year old girl in charge of a bunch of young guys, well except Ben, but he was not that bad looking either and expect there to be work done. Well me being the type where you get your stuff done and than you go have fun, Renea knew she could trust me. First you had Little Shawn. He was not related to big Shawn in any way thank god. He was the type that could talk and talk about absolutely nothing and would be ready to quiz you over what he said just to be sure that you were listening to him. Than you had Jake, the tall, shy one that caught my eye right off the bat. He really was not the outgoing type and came across like you were
