" Laugh your heart out, dance in the rain, cherish the memories, ignore the pain. love and learn, forget and forgive, because remember you only have one life to live." -Anonymous
During the past year I have learned three life lessons that have changed my life immensely. One is, life comes at you fast, and death could be around the next corner. Another, that someone i talk to once or twice, may never be around for that third time. Last, and most importantly, I have learned to never take life for granted. Unfortunatly, I learned all three of these lessons on the same day in April 2006.
I met Kathryn Cox in February 2006, at Chamblee soccer tryouts. We exchanged a few words, enough to know each other's names and faces. She played on the varsity team, but for one game she played with the Junior Varsity team. So, I met and talked to her twice. Nothing more than that.
While my mom and I were driving to Pennslyvania for Spring Break, we got the news that Kathryn and three other girls were in a searious car accident, and that Kathryn was probably not going to make it. Three days later, her family decided to take her off of life support. While sitting in my grandmother's kitchen doing a Sudoku on April 4, 2006, I learned those three valuable lessons.
Since her death, I have slowed down a lot. I enjoy the little things in life more than ever today. I live everyday like it is the last day of my life, because I know someday it is going to be. I find it shocking how a person who's name and face were the only thing I knew about them could change my life as mcuh as Kathryn did.
