1 Explain the ways in which you establish ground rules with your learners.
2 Describe how ground rules underpin appropriate behaviour and respect for others.
3 Explain and describe the types of resources that you have available to meet the potential needs of your learners.
4 Identify any other organisations which may be used as a referral point to meet the potential needs of the learners.
1. It is incredibly important for both the tutor and the learners to be able to work together in a safe environment and for that reason you should get the ground rules established as soon as possible. Firstly the tutor should establish and set their own ground rules which the class can then build upon. It is important that class member's views are valued and so including their input whilst making the rules is very important. This helps to maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.
These ground rules could include: good timekeeping, only one person speaking at a time, respecting others points of view and attending class fully prepared. Once verbally agreed upon they could be typed up and given as hand-outs or put on a poster and visibly displayed for all of the class to see and be aware of!
2. Ground rules set the boundaries within which all students must work, these boundaries enable everyone to have an equal opportunity to carry out their study whilst in the classroom.
3. There are quite a few different types of resources available to use from visual to audio and audio visual. Visual aids can include objects, models, pictures, charts, maps, flash cards, chalkboard, overhead projector, power-point presentations, slides, flipcharts, papers and pens etc. Audio aids could include radio and tape recorder and you can also have audio visual aids which would include television, dvd etc.
