4. The differences between Board Certification, Added Qualification, and Certificate
Programs, is that in getting a Board Certification you have to be certified for 7-year period and it is an written exam. Added Qualifications show enhanced level of training and experience in a segment of a specialty area, which also includes a portfolio submission. Certificate Programs brings pharmacists up to speed on specific skill or area this also includes a written exam and a supervised patient experience.
5. Board Certification opportunities include positions in pharmacotherapy, nuclear pharmacy, nutrition, psychiatry, and onocology.
6. Residency - Training program in a defined area of Pharmacy practice.
Fellowship - Highly individualized program designed to prepare one to be an independent researcher.
The difference between Residency and Fellowship is that the duration of Residency is 12 months and Fellowship is up to 2 years. In residency the purpose is to train Pharmacists in professional practice and management skills. In Fellowship the purpose is to develop competency in scientific process that includes conceptualization, planning, conducting, and reporting research.
