Paper #2

Marijuana is a greenish-gray mixture of the dried leaves and flowers of Cannabis sativa, which is also known as the hemp plant. The other active ingredients in marijuana and other products from Cannabis plant, such as hashish and hash oil, which is a substance known as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Marijuana is usually smoked by people in hand rolled cigarettes. Sometimes people put in water pipes or wraps in the cigar. This type of drug can also be cooked and eaten.

Marijuana can impair performance in work or in school, it also impairs short-term memory and judgment and distorts perception. Use of marijuana among the students of middle and high schools are increasing day by day. Which is not good for their health as well as the societies and nation. It can harm the ability to make decisions and decrease IQ. It is also related to the symptoms of bronchitis.

In my opinion, legalizing marijuana, in general, is not a good step to take. Marijuana should only be used for medical researches and making useful medicines. An article was written on July 6th, 2015by Marjorie Huan in News Seek shows that after legalizing marijuana in Colorado, nearly $6 million in pot revenues have been distributed to local governments in 2014 and 2015. But the cost of increased law enforcement, drugged-driving incidents, loss of productivity, fatal crashes, a huge spike in gang-related crime was more than the revenues itself. Teen drug-related school expulsion and homeless population in Denver also increased dramatically.

There are many pros of marijuana when it used in medicals. This can be used in the treatment of Nausea. The cannabinoids in marijuana are used to cure disease like Glaucoma. People widely used marijuana for pain relief in the 1800s, which is still being used. Cannabinoids are also effective in the treatment of muscle spasms and pain of multiple sclerosis, which is a disease of the nervous system that can cause serious muscle pain.

Everything in this world have pros and cons, so does marijuana. Smoking marijuana poses many health risks. Marijuana reduced balance and coordination. Smoking marijuana also increases the risk of heart attack. It causes a chronic cough and respiratory infections. Marijuana contains more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke. Which has the potential to cause lungs and respiratory tract.
