Leonardo da Vinci was a brilliant man who has influenced our world in ways. Clearly displays how his genius is the gift of God not the acquirement of human art. His abilities were extraordinary that was not only he valued in his own days, but his renown still fascinates us today.
From childhood on, the way Leonardo interprets experiences shapes the way other responds to him and the way he feels about himself. His love towards himself has shown from his early childhood. It comes from the respect towards his existence as a human. He never isolates himself as he had threat different to other child. He accepted himself with the uniqueness and excess also the lack ness and weakness. His acceptance of himself is the basic of love to go forward into the perfection in his life.
This ability of accepting himself, in the same time, caused him to be able to receive others as human beings as it is. It is well shown towards his adopted son. At first, he hoped he can transfer his knowledge of arts to his adopted son. Yet, his adopted son was not interest in those things. His adopted son, as it is known, was very naughty and lazy but whatsoever, he loved his adopted son. Though sometimes, he got angry with him but at the end he would regret for it. This love put him into the happiest situation in his life.
Love is like life breathing. Probably the existence of love in his life made him amazed with nature as it is one of God’s perfect creations. Truthfully, his interest of nature revealed in his childhood. He was not only pay attention but also learn the natural movement such as water, river, leaf, animals etc. For one sure, nature has favored him so greatly that he, in some ways, realized the beauty and grace of God’s creations. On that account, he was not being someone who enjoyed the nature only but he displayed and created the esthetics itself with arts, inventions, etc, through his life.
On the Contrary, for Michaelangelo, the fame of his name or even material wealth is above all things. Both of them enjoy the esthetic as an artist but how they see and put the esthetics in their life is different. Michaelangelo’s ego and greed displayed inhumanity because when someone is no longer questioning which one is good or bad for human then it can ruin the human life itself. Thereby, someone will put everything into rational, justification of oneself for the esthetic sake.
Obviously, this makes Leonardo differing from Michaelangelo. Leonardo put esthetic above all things, as it is the highest value. In which, the esthetic is the other side of truth
