Dear,
Trainspotting, a story by the author Irvine Welsh, has made me think that even those with lives considered obstreperous, they have a world of their very own. I would describe the story rather emotional and spontaneous, but quite funny too. The characters all are in a struggle in their own world, trying to live through every perilous day, to actually get through everyday.
"At last one came. There were a group ay young guys in shell-suits n bomber jaykits whae'd been standin thair longer than us. Ah doubt if Sick Boy even saw them. He charged straight oot intae the middle ay the Walk screaming: - TAXI!" page 5. In a way, this passage has connection to my past as I come from France. In some towns there; most people are shoddy and have no respect for taxi lines, speeding laws, parking laws, etc.
"This internal sea. The problem is that this beautiful ocean carries with it loads ay poisonous flotsam and jetsam...that poison is diluted by the sea, but once the ocean rolls out, it leaves the shite behind, inside ma body" page 14. This passage reminds me if what me life somewhat used to be. At my elementary school, there were tricycles we could use at break, except it was always me that got the old broken bike. This also reminds me of those stuck in poverty, they had a quite nice life, the government comes in and takes their homes, so they are stuck with all the, as Welsh would say, all the shite.
"Don't let me you hear you say life's takin' you nowhere - Angel... Look at those skies, life's begun, nights are warm and the days are yu-hu-hung..." page 17. This passage reminds me of selfish people. The angel is the selfish one, as its saying life isn't enough, when the other is saying it's all nice, it's enough. The term look at those skies, life's begun, is poetic to me because the sky can be all nice and clear, a new day, a new life.
I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading about other's lives and problems. Trainspotting is a book about junkies and their vagrant lives, and it's interesting to read how they get through it. Welsh uses some good humor in it too.
Yours sincerely,
