This book is about the young Lieutenant "BF" who has been assigned to hold Duffer's Drift, and given a platoon of 50 men to do so. The Lt. has 6 dreams, each one involving different tactics to hold the Drift but each one in the end failing. Each dream the Lt. learns a lesson in what to do and what not to do in defending the Drift. The Lt. learns lesson upon lesson and applies each one to the following dream until finally the Lt. successfully completes his mission in holding the DriftA few of the tactical lessons I took away from reading this book would be that you should analyze each and every part of something and not just assume what you think is going to happen. In other words expect the unexpected and always be one step ahead of your enemy. You should also step back in look at things from the enemy's point of view as to make sure nothing is over looked.
