"The Visit," wow I believe that I will never think about the word visit the same again. To me to visit was a good thing, a special thing, like going to visit grandma, or going to visit the zoo. Yet among the Na, to "visit" is a completely different thing. Some may say that it is good, others a complete disgrace to humanity, to many a sin.

Throughout the world, most, if not all countries have some form of marriage. May it be Monogamy, Polygyny, or Polyandry. There is some form of union, and some form of family. Now the Na had neither of that, there was no former union, or a structure know as a family. The men just choose a partner and away they went, literally. The men didn't stay to help provide for the women or for his offspring, a majority of the time the children and even the mothers didn't know who the father would be. They would have multiple encounters with many men on a daily basis, this even led to incest.

Some may say, hey, what's wrong with sleeping around and having no commitment. Well to me a lot. Here's an old Proverb, "A man cannot scoop fire into his lap without being burned." This article stated that more than 50% of Na's adults had syphilis, that most of the women are sterile, and that there were many deformed people. That is getting burned by the fire. It stated that over time they have tried to instill marriage into their culture at first with very little success. Yet over time, by force and fear they have succeeded.
