Schools will never be the same. We can only dream about the ways learning use to be. Test, data, and more test pretty much so sums up teaching these days. Schools have been severely McDonalized students no longer go to school to learn or to learn critical thinking skills, they now go to school to learn how to pass test. Testing produces data and data produces money. Students are not students in the government's eyes they are a number. They know if they fill the seats they will get paid for all the classes they can fill, just like the prison system. Teaching is no longer about discipline or teaching social skills, team building or working with parents to get better results from the students; it's all about taking test and passing them to the next grade like an assembly line. I came across an article called EDWIZE Education News and Opinion a McDonaldization of Education written by Leo Casey that states, , "When teachers talk of the "McDonaldization of education," the term is commonly employed in a metaphorical way, to describe a process that, if it were taken to its logical conclusion, would transform schools into the instructional equivalent of fast food outlets. Of particular concern is the de-skilling of educators into deliverers of canned programs, the unhealthy standardization of curriculum and pedagogy and the commercialization of public schools."
