Lying Is Part of Human Nature

deeper and deeper until there is only darkness. Every time people bring up that subject I lied about I have to keep lying over and over again. Not only does it reminds me of the truth and gives me a negative feeling, it also brings me further and further away from the truth. Why did I even lie about it in the first place? Shame? Guilt? Maybe so people will not judge me? Whatever the reason, because of the many lies it only gets harder and harder to come clean and the negative emotions this lie brings along keep piling up. According to several studies; chronic liars may develop the same symptoms associated with chronic stress, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Is that all worth it?
Lying is part of human nature,
One of the many uses of lying is deception. Deception can be defined as being misled of the truth. Deception is all around us. Television, billboards and politicians are examples of the different levels of deception we are confronted with daily. Subtle deception evident on television and billboards, commonly used in advertisements is legal. When watching commercials that are advertising a new weight loss product for example, the bodybuilders working happily on the machines have not developed their bodies on this equipment, but with years of gym work. People are lead to believe that they will look similar with ten minutes of this product. In contrast, politicians are an extreme case of deception in which legal measure can be taken. In gaining the job as Prime Minister or President of a county, policies and promises are made to encourage the citizens of a country to vote for them. Once given the job, many leaders have not complied with their promises. They deceitfully abuse the trust of their country. In all competition and in life in general, allowing others to predict you can be harmful. Deception in war such as this are still used today. The America Vs Iraq war is an example of this. America abused their power and told the world that Iraq was hiding weapons of mass destruction and that they must be stopped, as they are a threat to the world. Although America has been in an incredible 49 small wars since WW2, another struggling country which posed a threat to them, was taken over with the backup of the UN as America's lies and deceit were enough to convince the world that what they were doing was morally right. In all three of these examples the liars benefit through the use of deception.
Another use of lying is to escape difficult situations. Regardless of the situation, lying can be an effective escape but the consequences of getting caught may sometimes be more detrimental than its worth.
