In the 1960s the computer entered the offices of most organization each time an information system was made it had to be customized to the company's needs. The management system or (MIS) is a computer- based system it gives one the necessary data to organize and manage the company.
It also gives one a system to record and support data to help the company achieved their goals, and keep the company going in the right direction. Some example would be tracking inventory, Budget systems, and sale management. So that managers can evaluate a company's performance by comparing current and previous outputs.
Transaction Processing Systems these are created to handle routine operation and recurring accounts. They were created in 1960 to work with mainframe computers. Today they are used in banks so that they can record deposits and payments. Stores also use them to keep track of their inventory. Most business uses them for payroll and customer billing and payments to suppliers (Sarkissan, 2012).
Operation information system collects data, and organizes it from the transaction processing system and it puts it together in a summary this makes it easier for managers to understand example of this would include sales and inventory.
Decision support System is used by senior management it supports ill-structured or semi-structured. The managers can analyze their decision because they are concerned about predicting the future and their effectiveness example would be Group decision support systems, financial planning system, and logistics (Sarkissan, 2012).
Executive Information Systems this system helps the executive and senior manager analyze the environment in which the company operates in and identify any trends and take a course of action to correct any problems. These systems are made for executives these systems are tailored made to the individual who is using it the executives are concerned about the company and want to be effective (Different types of information system and the pyramid model n.d.).
