Managerial Philosophy Statement
There are a wide variety of characteristics that a supervisor should possess to run a department with high productivity. Effective communication, respect, and recognition of a job well done are these important characteristics. Supervisors must guide their employees in all of these areas to decrease the daily challenges of a diverse world.
Supervisors should have good communication skills using clear, proper language, repeating by performance, and by making sure the employees understand what is being said to them. Efficient communication should increase overall productivity and job quality should rise to the organizations standards. Supervisors should use the open door policy as a good communication tool to encourage employees to come to them with any challenges, when a challenge should arise.
Supervisors should show recognition to the employees as a motivator. Give the employee rewards such as a paid day off, a gift certificate, or just a simply thank you for working hard card. This will motivate the employee to go above and beyond the normal to receive a reward that is earned for hard work. The attitudes of the employees will be affected greatly by this acknowledgment, which will change the work environment.
Supervisors should show a great deal of respect towards their employees as well should the employees show respect in return. This will show that the manager knows from experience and knowledge how to lead the employees to respect everyone equally.
When supervising a widely diverse group of employees, these three characteristics will help to higher the production and increase the quality of work.
