My book report is on the book Maniac Magee’ by Jerry Spinelli. The reason why I chose Maniac Magee’ is because I love Jerry Spinelli books. They’re always very good. Maniac Magee’ is kind of a warm-your-heart’ book.
I’ll tell you a little about the story, but not a lot, because I don’t want to spoil it for you! The story is about a young boy that runs away from his new home and the few new friends he meets along the way. Some of the characteristics about Magee are that he is sad a lot, he runs a way a lot, and he doesn’t trust a lot of people.
Magee is also a pretty nice guy once he stops running and he gets a chance to talk to someone. He doesn’t understand a lot of stuff that is going on in his life at the time. Magee just wants someone to help him understand and try to make some sense of things for him.
Some events in the story makes Magee stop running away from things all the time and he finds that he feels happier after he finds a friend to hang out with and talk about things.
Magee has some things he needs to figure out. Some of it with help, and some, he needs to figure out for himself. Some parts of the story are very touching.
Magee wants a place he can call home’, so that he can stop running. He wants to be able to laugh with friends and cry with someone at his side.
As the reader, the story makes you want him to stop running away. What really got to me was the cover. It made me feel like there is just something about this story that makes you feel like you must read it and see what’s going to happen to the character. Also, since Jerry Spinelli is also a Newberry award-winning author, that also got my attention.
This is my review on the great book Maniac Magee’. I definitely recommend it. .
