Working at Buckeye
Making fifteen dollars an hour, working as many hours as I want, and doing some cool and interesting work is how to do it. Working at Buckeye Design and Engineering is the place to be. I just recently started working there again to earn some extra cash for school. The last time I worked there was during the summer last year. Hands down, this place is the best place to work during college.
It's a Sunday morning and I'm back to working bright and early at eight in the morning. I walk inside to find my name ready on the clock in sheet. I punch the time and get to work. As I approached the machine I was working at, my boss Jim came up to greet me and talk about some of the new parts being ran. He took me to the side and showed me the new machine that made motor mounts for cars. My job was to place the parts into the machine, shut the door, and push a button. The machine would then drill a hole through the part so it is able to be screwed on to a motor. The job here was too easy. Jim had another machine that was identical to the he showed me. He told me if I ran both machines, he would pay me fifteen dollars per hour. For such easy work, it's practically a steal. Jim handed me a pair of safety glasses and I was off to working.
After I ran the machines for about two hours, I decided to take my first break. It's a strong belief at Buckeye Design to not overwork employees. Every two hours I am allowed to take a ten minute break. For lunch I was allowed to have half an hour to eat without even clocking out. You were also allowed to go get water or use the rest room whenever you need to, which is wonderful. It's hard to get tired when you get so many breaks. I grabbed a glass of water and grabbed a seat in the break room. The break room has all the needs you'll ever need. Fresh cool water, a fridge stocked with soda, and nice comfortable chairs is like a dream when working.
I started walking back to my machine when I ran into Jim's son Todd. I was surprised to see him there because he usually worked third shift when I worked there this last summer. Todd is about forty years old but was one of the coolest people I've ever met. We talked for about ten minutes and had some good laughs. One of the biggest things I missed about working at Buckeye Design was the hospitality and friendliness of everyone. Everyone that worked there always seemed to be in a good mood, and had fun when they were working. I always felt like I belonged. I finally got back to my machine with a big grin on my face. I put another part in and kept running the machines.
Another hour passed and I noticed the grease built up on the machine. To my left on a stand I found a spray bottle of heavy duty degreaser
