Mars was the god of war. He was one of the most likeable and worshiped god.

Ares was the god of war. He was the son of Zeus. He is one of the most hated gods

2. Is the divinity male or female? What function does this gender play?

Mars was a male divinity. Romans believed that he was the father of roman and roman people. Ares was a male divinity. He was a ruthless god.

3. Within the myth of origin, how does this divinity compare with other divinities? How does this divinity interact with or compare to divinities of the same gender and to divinities of the opposite gender?

Bellona the wife of Mars was believed to inspire a warlike frenzy and enthusiasm. Mars is compared to Minerva, because she was well liked and respected. Athena the goddesses of war, represents thoughtfulness and wisdom in the affairs of war, and protects men and their habitations during its ravages. His sister Eris calls forth war, Zeus directs its course.

4. What are the divinity's attributes, such as divine powers or characteristics? What objects does the divinity possess, such as a weapon or animal, that assist him or her?

Mar wore full battle armor, wearing a crested helmet and bearing a shield. He also had a spear. His animals were a wolf and a woodpecker. Ares had a spear. He also was bearded warrior dressed in battle arms. His animal was a dog.

5. Identify one character from contemporary culture that shares characteristics of each divinity and explain why you chose each character. What real-life ideals does this divine role represent? How attainable are these ideals? Mars Ares has influenced modern culture, in the Wonder Woman comic books, he is often depicted as the villain (Jones). Besides comic books, Ares is also the antagonist in numerous video games. NASA has also named their transport ship after Ares ("Ares Launch Vehicles").
