M.L.K

Martin Luther King Jr. Fought racism Through peace and love not hate and fighting. When Martin Luther King was alive Blacks were being treated unfairly. Like having to sit in the back in the bus, segregated bathrooms, and segregated schools. All of this was just caused by COLOR. M.L.K always tried to fight the racism through peace this got him arrested many times nearly 40. Jackie Robinson was also a fighter of racism he did in a slightly different way, he did it by breaking the unwritten color barrier in American baseball. Jackie Robinson also held peaceful marches to destroy segregation everywhere. They are important figures because they helped stop racism in America.

Before all this turmoil, M.L.K was born in Atlanta, Georgia   January 15. 1929. At an early age his grandmother Jeanne Died of heart attack this was a very sad time for martin. Shortly after he jumped from a 2 story building most likely attempting suicide. A slightly older martin earned sociology degree from Morehouse college. In college he met a white woman and went through a difficult time before he broke up with her. After a few years martin went back to college and got his Ph.D. He got his degree when he was only 25 years old. After college Martin started having peaceful protests such as the Montgomery bus boycott and the “Bloody Sunday” march. Martin was assassinated at the Loraine hotel in Memphis, Tennessee April 4,1968. He was 39 years old.

Jackson Roosevelt Robinson was born on January 31, 1919, in Cairo Georgia. The youngest of the five children in his family. He grew up in poverty with his single mom Jackie attended the University of California, La, He was the University ‘s first student to win varsity letters in 4 sports. Despite his athletic success, Jackie was forced to leave UCLA because of financial problems.         After that he moved to Honolulu, Hawaii for a semi-professional Football team the Honolulu Bears. But his football was cut short when the U.S entered ww2. From 1942 to 1944 Jackie was a lieutenant for the army. After his discharge 1n 1944 from the army he began playing baseball professionally. At the time the sport was segregated and so blacks and whites played in different leagues. After Robinson had been playing in the Negro leagues for awhile, Branch Rickey president of the dodgers contacted Robinson to help integrate baseball. When Robinson agreed to help and come on to the team, Branch Rickey had Jackie agree that he would not respond to racism. Jackie agreed and did so well that he was the first African-American to play on a major league team. This is why Jackie Robinson was an equal rights advocate.         M.L.K and Jackie Robinson were amazing figures in history because of their fight in stopping racism. Peaceful protests are a great way to stop or begin great or terrible things.

, many peaceful protests turn into riot when someone comes in their way. If you are willing to give up something you love for something that everybody will enjoy then you are sacrificing that thing sacrifice could also be an amazing thing and it also cannot be sometimes sadly.
