Mass media is a powerful tool that is used in modern society to report the news as well as make news from no news. What remains true is that bad news is good news. The Media circle has been able to thrive from the discomforts of our surroundings and by doing this they are keeping our society in a constant state of fear. We look for the news not only to be told to us but are also looking to it to tell us what we must do about the situations and disasters. Media has been able to not only report the news but dig up and make news, one form of this is muck racking which became popular during election times in the earl 1900s. Although the news we receive has not change all to much, the way we receive it has continued to evolve as do the times. From word of moth to paper, to radio, to television. By doing this we are offered a more dramatic display of such news.
Over the years news has found a way to inform us in the best ways possible. While this may be true we are also able to interpret it in our own ways. The media has become a strong force in which we look to in order to help keep our society well informed and in touch with each other. It accomplishes this but at the same time we as a society look for the gossip or the bad in people or situations so that we can feel more secure about where we stand in our own lives. To see the hurricane demolish a whole city and state and look at it on the television we can say, glad that did not happen to me and although we may be saddened by it we still have a sense of security that comes along with it.
Although it is a partially the medias job to keep us informed it s also there job to make the news when possible. That means digging deep in order to find us the gossip and the background of a person such as a president. We love to read about the negatives in people of higher status and class because they seem to be untouchable to us. We often can feel better about ourselves from this.
The media is here to inform us as well as create the news by digging deep into areas that are difficult for us as society to see, such as a persons credentials that is running our country. Creating the news can be a positive as well as a negative, just as reporting the news is in the same situation. To much digging can do more harm than good and to much bad news can disrupt our faith in our surroundings.
