Subject: Development Goals for Communication Skills for Management Class
The class, Communication Skills for Management, or BA 517, requires many assignments and readings to be successfully completed. I have outlined specific goals in this memo that should help me achieve a satisfactory grade and effectively learn how to communicate better in a business environment.
Learn How to Communicate Efficiently
I would like to learn how to communicate better in a business setting because it will give me a step forward on how to be a successful leader. Communication skills are necessary in the business world to move up the corporate ladder and will also help me successfully complete my Master of Business Administration degree at Pennsylvania State University, Great Valley Campus.
Learn How to Improve Non-Verbal Communication
I would like to learn how to better understand my oversights of non-verbal communication and improve in those areas. Non-verbal communication is always occurring in all situations of contact and is also responsible for most of the meaning in a message. Since most of us do not realize the non-verbal messages we give, it is important to recognize those messages and develop better skills on how to use them. Non-verbal communication also varies throughout different cultures. The knowledge of these differences in non-verbal messages across cultures will help me be successful in being a leader.
Learn How to Give an Effective Presentation
I would like to learn how to give an effective presentation to different types of audiences both inside and outside the organization. This will help me improve in my current role as a Portfolio Analyst at GE Equipment Services, TIP/ModSpace. The better presentation skills will enhance my communication to the audience about my research and knowledge on how to reduce customer delinquency and to foresee risk exposure.

Research and organization of the presentation will help establish credibility of my knowledge and also gain the audience's attention. Preparing for the pitch will motivate the audience and keep my information organized. Overall, this information will help me give a better presentation than if I did not have this knowledge.
