wHAT IS autism?

  • Autism is a neurodevelopment of impairments.

  • A person with Autism they are likely to have difficulties in social and communication interactions, and have behavioral problems all in which are REPETITIVE.
  • Autism is usually recognized in the first 3 years of a child’s life and can go into adulthood.
  • Being diagnosed with Autism can make it difficult for someone to communication and interact with other people because they have delays

When Being Diagnosed By a Professional, thing that they look for are:

  • Communication (lacking, speech, language; repetitive)

  • Social (lack eye contact, don’t engage with peers (age appropriate)
  • Behavioral ( parent report play interactions, eating and sleeping habits

  • Focusing Interventions and Intensive Behavior (improve social and communication)
  • Pivotal Response Training
  • Speech/ Language Therapy

Parent involvement is important  to continue thing tips learned at interventions at home as well. Treatment improve over time but last into adult head.

AUTISM STIGMAS

  • Autistic children are not disciplined
  • People who hear stigmas are afraid to have their child diagnosed
  • Their brain is wired different
