Foundations in Child Developments, Through Biological, Cognitive and Social and Emotional Development
I. Research or topic of interest
1. My focus was on how biological, cognitive and social and emotional developments have a profound impact on a person's life at the adolescent stage (12-14) or at others stages of life. The three domains reminds me of the Urban Future, mission statement being in partnership between the Community Agency Program with the family, school, and community, and, is dedicated to the success of urban youth through character growth, academic achievement and career, This is the mission statement to Urban Future to change the way we educate urban kids by supplementing established public schools with a solid framework of support because school alone is not enough even at the best schools in the country, and especially in the inner city. I believe there is a relationship of interest of the domains, and the mission statement of Urban Future.
2. What was so important to me and held my interest was seeing the eagerness in the children while they are learning.
II. Provide a context for your work
1. The values and relevant I hold was tutoring and learning what a tutor is; a teacher, a guide, someone who provides expertise and encouragement to others. Another value I hold is the importance of the three domains, biological, cognitive, and social and emotional.
2. Cognitive were valuable in the research I did at the school. Zone of proximal is a development a range of tasks that one cannot yet perform independently but can perform with the help and guidance of others. Working with children who have an information processing difficulties, these are just a few that I valued with the experience from the CAP setting. The students had and enthusiastic interest they had in learning to read, and solve math problem, they required more time and this gave me a since of purpose to assist them.
III. Summarize what I learned about the research topic this semester and how the learning relates to the following course concepts. The significance I responded to is how the context is a broad social environments, including family, schools, neighborhoods, community organizations, culture, ethnicity, and society at large, and that influence of children's development. According to the text nature is an inherited characteristic and tendencies that affect development, and nurture is the environmental conditions that affect development. These factors could play a significant role in one's life, most definitely in the adolescence stage. The purpose of this study was to identify factors of children development through observation and education, which lead to a successful educational in partnerships between the community agency program for the student.
Course Concepts
All the factors relate to the course concepts, Cognitive Development: Cognitive Processes What is tools some teachers can use to meet the needs of children from all backgrounds? What are tools the primary contributions of a family to child development? Every child needs at least one adult devoted to his or her health, education, and welfare. It talks dedication from heads of families to meet needs to feed, clothe, and supply basic needs. These promote a successful educational partnership between this Community Agency Program for the students.
The concepts of theories related to a lot of information. I seen how cognitive development is impacted in schools and the environment through typical problems: poor nutrition and health care, inadequate housing and material goods, toxic environment, gaps in background knowledge, increased risk of disabling condition, emotional stress, lower quality schools and public misconceptions etc....These method of research focused on tutoring and observation with student's interaction. Located in Fanning Middle School and Urban future is a Community Agency Program that helps students with additional education programs.
Piaget and Vygotsky
How my topic relates to the theories of Piaget's and Vygotsky some of the key ideas in his theory are on the primary focus was on the role of nurture and especially on the ways in which a child's social and cultural environments foster cognitive growth. He says some cognitive processes are seen in a variety of species; others are unique to human beings. He talks about two kinds of mental processes, which he called functions, and that many species exhibit lower mental functions and that human beings are unique in their additional use of higher mental functions. Through both informal interactions and formal schooling, adults convey to children the ways in which their culture interprets the world. So in they ways over interactions with children, adults share the meanings they attach to objects, events, and, more generally, human experience. When this is done they are transforming the situations children encounter. This to me is like do not focus on the children's problem but what is at hand.
The schools only deal with the children problem when it is out of hand and they suspend them, but they play with them. Where as Piaget's theory share the belief that children skills and understanding change in distinct, qualitative ways over time. He suggests that children abilities are strongly tied to personal experiences in particular context. He has a key idea that the development in specific content domains can sometimes be characterized as a series of stages.
Cognitive Process and Linguistic (Language)
The cognitive process and the language development, I observe at CAP and during the cultural experience project is defined as there are some children at CAP that are having a struggle in these areas. However, the children like the enhancing information through social interaction, by regularly engaging in social exchanges, talking with the children while tutoring them and allow them to share their experiences, and involving the children and adolescents in joint activities that require new strategies. I have observed that differences children of color and cultural are working on their language development and as well as cognition skills and some or considered that English is a second language to them because of the fluency. I have heard some teachers call their language dysfunction speech impairment.
