Military Recruiting in School
A teenager in high school is very vulnerable in what lies ahead of them. We make decisions based on instinct and what appeals to us before any thought process happens. And with the military recruiting officers coming to our high schools I think it’s a good attempt on building our Military forces. Do I think this is the right thing to do, well no. It’s an easy way to mislead and confuse a person who is looking towards doing something after high school and what the recruiting officers portray, how can a 17 or 18 year old resist.
As a teenager and my views on what is going on overseas I strongly disagree on what the military does and how they come to public schools and try to get those kids who don’t know what they want to after high school and get them to enlist. Like I said teenagers are very vulnerable and very easy to persuade. All of the talk that recruiters do are all the talk that will happen if you succeed in what you do and you are one of the top soldiers in your class. You get free education, better health benefits, not a lot of time overseas, but they never show you the fine print. Which includes, 7 years of enlistment to fully pay off 4 years of college.
A decision will be made by those who want to enlist and give it their best and have pride in fighting for our country, people who want to be there. And bringing in the
recruiters to the schools make the kids who don’t know what they want to do, they just have to get out of the house and do something, make that choice. Its almost to good to be true what the military gives you. They only advertise the good side of military, the free meals everyday, the education. But what people don’t know, they cant even scratch the surface of it. I am not saying I know, but I have two family members in the military right now and they always tell me that the Army is not joke and you have to be a very strong person, mentally and physically.
I just believe with the billions of dollars that go to the army from the government, they can find a better way of recruiting. Because right now by going to high schools and promoting the good life after the military is almost a bribe because teenagers have no idea how hard the military is for a person. It is something you need to decide for yourself or you will be just another soldier.
