Misunderstandings

There was this guy on Facebook who always posted statuses about himself. The comment he posted was how he had lost weight. Along with the comment was a picture of him standing there with his hand on his hip and other on the laptop. He stood there as if he was hot looking. Several people commented and one in particular was from me. I put did you really lose weight or was that from the way you were standing, LOL. When morning came my comment was deleted and another status was posted asking, “Why do people have to be so negative?” Of course in return I went to my wall and posted a comment to the effect of his status.

The form of technology used today through feedback on Facebook gave a negative expression. He really didn’t know if I was truly picking or responding with negative remarks. Even though he is the typical guy who always makes jokes and laughs at everything couldn’t take the criticism. From time to time this person has an arrogant attitude. You always know what mood he will be in through his body language.

Things could have been avoided by just not posting a comment under his picture. Todays’ world is lousy at reading nonverbal tones through posts, emails, and even the telephone. People always assume what is meant instead of receiving all the facts first. Body language sometimes leads to misunderstandings. Nobody is a mind reader so don’t assume and things will be more accurate in todays’ society.
