Essay Preview: Moral Philosophy and Christian Ethics Moral Philosophy and Christian Ethics Are Two Similar Terms
Moral Philosophy and Christian Ethics Moral Philosophy and Christian ethics are two similar terms. What we mean by moral philosophy, it talks about beliefs and it is based on principles of doing right and wrong. On the other hand, Christian ethics are based on ideas of doing right and wrong. Based from the description of what I’ve researched, I think my understanding of what moral philosophy is deals with having a right conduct through reasoning while Christian ethics deal with virtuous behaviours and values that are based on religion on doing what is right and wrong. I think both concepts are important for one’s character because we cannot just stick to one basis. One should be able to reason and at the same time get the value on a certain situation. It needs thought of very well while knowing the values of it.
2. Ethics of doing and Ethics of being
My understanding on ethics of doing is it is based on a political thinking or what is for the society. Ethics of being is based on an individual kind and involves moral thinking. Also based from my research, ethics of doing means duty while ethics of doing means virtue. I think both ethics are similar, but has different approaches. One is as important as the other because ethics of doing shows our duty of what to do about a situation. Ethics of doing shows a virtue of being the type of person I should be. Whether I become the type of a moral or immoral person and whether what action I can do about it.
