Morality: An essential to life

A Russian born American science-fiction writer and biochemist once quoted, "Never let your sense of morals get in the way of doing what's right." This statement generates a series of controversial questions. What is right? How do morals affect people and society in which we live? Does everyone have specific morals by which they try to live their life? How does someone realize what their morals are? What are morals? These questions cannot be truthfully answered because everyone has their own definition of what is right and what is wrong and how one should live their life. My definition of morality is the concern with the distinction between good and evil or right and wrong, which can be seen through someone's actions based on their ethical principles. That is, if someone lives their life based on their morals. Morality plays an important role in your life and the lives of others whether or not you live with it or not.

From the time when I was little, I thought I've always had a good idea about what is right and what is wrong. I'm not saying I always did the proper thing, but each time I did something morally indecent or offensive, my conscience always let me know. Over time, incidents where my morality was tested have helped me develop a number of morals in which I try to live my life. I believe having morals is an important part of a developing character. Morality is a code of conduct put forward by a society by which you live. It could be based on religion, rituals or simply human nature. Living in morality can produce a life in peace and harmony without causing harm to anyone. Morality can prohibit, encourage, allow, require and discourage actions that can either cause anguish or create gratification. These things are very important. If no one lived with the intention to do anything could for anyone else rather than themselves, it would just be an unhappy place. In "A Whole Lot of Cheatin' Going On," the author makes a point on how much people cheat for their own well being to make themselves look and feel good. Especially in colleges. No one wants a doctor operating on them who cheated their way to their position. Here is an example of why morality is an issue in which needs to be discussed and acted out in our humanity

Why is morality an issue in our society and why should we care? Well, think of how the world would be if everyone did whatever they wanted and didn't think of right or wrong while carrying out their actions. It is very ideal to have specific morals of what's right and wrong, Without morals, where would life take us? Would there even be a meaning to life if everyone just did what they pleased without any significance behind it? If you don't consider your values and beliefs, life could be a mess. Morals are in existence to guide your life to goals rather than be controlled by unhealthy habits and actions.
