- If you were Palmer at the end of the case, how would you respond?
Ans. First of all I would justify the need of Olds in audit to Ms. Sand once more concerning keeping him in Johnsonville project as he has experience in monetary system. Secondly I would Speak to Olds in person concerning the importance of his role in project and he should not have to quit if it is possible for him. Moreover I would ask the personnel management of M&M to train or hire someone for the completion Johnsonville project before deadlines.
- What, if anything, could Palmer have done to avoid losing Olds?
Ans. Firstly he should not had to share Olds. Secondly if Olds had any problem regarding doing audit work at afternoon then Palmer can suggest the management that Olds’s schedule can be switched by working for Crosby at afternoon and for himself in the morning otherwise he had to follow the planned schedule for Olds, strictly.
- What advantages and disadvantages of a matrix type organization are apparent
from this case?
