Abstract
DBaaS has been one of the most versatile technologies in the present market. This paper will focus on the characteristics of various DBaaS services, the unique selling proposition or (USP) of these kinds of services and the challenges it faces in the current market. Bassil (2012) stated that the advent of DBaaS or database-as-a-service was from the humongous growth in cloud computing and digital data, and hence change of the requirements of data storage. DBaaS or Database-as-a-Service plays a key part in most real-life assignments that involve retrieval storage, and querying of many kinds of digital data. DBaaS helps the user to control, use and store the database from anywhere with the help of Internet. The research paper will focus on the different ways a company’s or a business’s functional costs and strategy can change with the help cloud based data service. Shute and Samwel (2013) defended DBaaS or database-as-a-service has brought a revolutionary shift to the world of information technology. In the present scenario most of the organizations which are IT centric have some kind of database services and makes the job much easier as compared to before. DBaaS delivers ascendable quality, great accessibility, improved reserve provision.

Santos and Shraer (2013) believes the services that are based on cloud achieve acceptance both in the domain of enterprise as well as private .The paper is organized in two parallel sections. On one hand, the paper will consider the company’s revenue, size, the kind of business the company is particularly involved in, and the kind of clients they cater to. On the other hand, the paper will consider various DBaaS options in terms of cost, benefits with regards to business, maintenance involved along with the people and processes as argued by Nayak, Poriya and Poojary (2013). After evaluating these two parts, the outcome will focus about a business’s need to inculcate the specific kind of DBaaS for their organization. It will suggest about elimination of various kinds of impediments and problems concerning technology and infrastructure.
Shehri (2013) articulated Most of the e-commerce companies like Amazon, eBay have been benefitted a lot with such services. Amazon had even introduced its own DBaaS service named DynamoDB (on AWS platform) seeing its demand in the present market
Just like any one software product, these also have their own advantages and disadvantages. One of the major evaluations in the paper would be about the comparison of query execution speeds of four different DBaaS services namely Google - cloud SQL, Oracle – DBaaS, Amazon - DynamoDB (on AWS platform), Mongolab - NoSQL DBaaS. Database on the cloud in the scenarios of organizations with differently sized data requirements. The research will showcase a comparative study of performance, cost perspective of four different kinds of DBaaS available in the current market.
Finally, the research will provide a case study of one large sized organization and analyze the size, operating cost, structure of the organizations and the kind of DBaaS service that they can adopt. This case study will show why the DBaaS service chosen will prove to be appropriate and will suit best for the business.

Arora and Gupta (2012) illustrated, almost all the major systems of an organization that has websites, software that takes care of accounts, payroll, stock as well as management of these, all depend on the database where they can store feed change or delete their information as per the needs and requirement of the organization. Shute, Vingralek, Samwel and Handy 2013 sated that many software development companies or organizations are on the present scenario developing producing and creating various kinds of DBaaS software to cater to the needs of the vendors or clients as explained by Bassil (2012). In specific, each DBaaS is categorized by a pack of different and varied functional and as well as non-functional features. Therefore, the deployment model of DBaaS will gain substantial grounds in IT roadmap of organizations. Precisely, DBaaS can be called a "managed service" that is offered to the various customers on a pay-per-usage basis. It stores application data on a database on the cloud and provides on-demand access as per requirement. Lightstone, Lohman and Zilo (2012) precisely stated, DBaaS can be called a "managed service" that is offered to the various customers on a pay-per-usage basis. In terms of flow of capabilities that are steady and available immediately, agility, scalability, availability, and the speed of deployment, it is often argued that DBaaS has significant cost savings and advantages when compared to traditional databases. Pamulaparty, Varma and Kumar (2013) argues DBaaS has generated a huge amount of interest in recent times in spite of the fact that it’s a relative new area to trade in the cloud environment. This cloud database will comprise of zones, database pools, self-service users and service templates. Administration functionalities can be used for life cycle management of multi-tenant databases. Pamulaparty, Varma and Kumar (2013) also stated Oracle specifies a very meticulous and wide-ranging support via REST API.
DBaaS Vendors and offerings:
Xin, Dantressangle and Lightstone (2010) indicated that due to the flexibility in terms of handling growth of infrastructure and data needs it is quite obvious that DBaaS will dominate the database market as the strongest deployment in future. DBaaS (database-as-a-service) enables availability of online database capabilities whenever they are essential. The end user can exercise the option to access a significant or minor slice of the database schema or the complete dedicated instance of the database. This is as per choice or requirement. With DBaaS it is very easy to build and deploy various applications on the cloud platform. It enables organizations to deploy brand new databases cheaply, quickly and accurately. [pic 1]
