Motivation towards College
My journey towards college was a long and hard one. I unlike most decided to walk a different path. Growing up my parents are college graduates, it was naturally expected that I would go to college. I initially didn’t have the motivation to start college like many others. The thought of going to college and sitting in a class room all day wasn’t my idea of wonderful. In all honesty I just wasn’t ready for that next chapter. It took me 3 years to be ready but I am now.
What inspired me to start college was due to the fact of my cousin Shantel. Her determination for wanting a better life for not only herself but also her children. Seeing her made passion come back into my life. Without her inspiration I don’t think I would have started this journey. Her determination allowed for me to want more for my life. She is my blessing of taking the next step forward, but it is on me to keep going.
The three things that will keep me going through out college is the mind set of I will not give up when things are hard. My recent struggle is feeling as though I am relearning everything. There are moments recently in which I have wanted to give up because I feel overwhelmed. Having to go back to school has been an adjustment. To be able to keep the mentality of keep going will benefit me in the long run.
Professional help with an assignment will also keep me going. It will help me not feel as though I am alone. I have learned from first-hand experience that the writing center helped me to better my writing skills. It is a relief to know that there is help all we need to do is look and ask for it.
Lastly another thing that will help me to keep going is to be able to keep my humor through this journey. This allows for life not to get to serious and once in a while to be able to see the positive in everything. Laughter helps me to live life with a happy mind set.
What will motivate me to keep me going. I am a very goal oriented person once I set a goal I get tunnel vision and nothing stops me from achieving it. It is a matter of saying I can, will and believe to succeed and doing it.
Another thing that will keep me going is the desire to not having to struggle to find employment without a degree. Many people are having a hard time finding employment and I would like to make it easier on myself by having a degree. I want to avoid struggling to the best of my abilities.
