There are various individuals and groups who have a vested interest in this project. These individuals and groups are called stakeholders. A stakeholder may include anyone who will be positively or negatively affected by the out come of the product or the project. Stakeholders contribute unique skills and knowledge to a project and can be found inside and outside of the organization. Some the key stakeholders in this project are the design, production, purchasing, shipping, sales and marketing departments. Another stakeholder naturally or the customers. This is called the performing organization, which includes everyone involved in designing, manufacturing, and selling the new product or services. Together as a whole they also will be responsible, for supplying the necessary skills, labor, and techniques to accomplish the project work. The design department has given preliminary sketches of the potential product and are very excited about the new product. The customer contributes needs and specifications for the project. The company will likely increase the success of the product by focusing on expressed customer needs. Another stakeholder is the marketing department, they will be responsible for marketing the new product and selling some of its more significantly established features. The sponsors in this project would be me the Manager at Winsome Manufacturing. Because of the simple fact that all the manufacturing will be done in-house and I am the company's executive manager.
It varies from project to project where the project manager should come from. In this likely scenario, it is possible that project manager should come from the production department. The expected results of the product is to be completed approximately 9 months from now. The project manager should probably anticipate having everything complete within seven to eight months. But sometimes with a rushed timeline you can also experience sloppy production. You can eliminate a lot of confusion and frustration and missed timelines by having a project charter. A project charter describes the business need that the project was undertaken to address the key product or services that will result from the project. The approval to proceed with the project comes in the form of an authorized project charter. A project charter is a document that formerly recognizes the existence of a project. This charter provides the project manager with the authority to apply organizational resources, such as personnel, budget, and materials to project activities. Project charter's vary from project to project and from company to company, but they all have one thing in common and that is they all must be authorized.
