I chose Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is from Folk Art, Art Music and All That Jazz:
Clarinet Concerto in A Major. I chose this because this piece of music reminds me how
I feel on Sunday evenings when it is stormy outside and when the storm quits and after
uncomfortable conditions I get some kind of grey peace inside, a kind of grey which
won’t get lighter with sunrise tomorrow. Grey is not a bad color. Sometimes it can be
good to fade out colors: you only see the basic things then.
One of the beloved pieces in the art music repertoire to me is the Clarinet Concerto In
A Major. His playing of the A-Major concerto- a classical piece can be matched by no
one else. I loved the soft precision of tone and the instrumental ripeness of intonation.
This selection of music is very effective to the way it sounds and how I feel and this
piece of music itself is based upon expression of raw emotions by use of powerful
dynamics and key changes. I chose Sunday afternoons because when I
listened to this piece that is what it reminded me of, a grey and stormy day and
Sunday afternoons are grey because you’re starting the week all over again.
So in conclusion, this piece increased in size, dynamic range and instrumentation, as
well as became more complex in terms of melody, tonality and rhythm. This was a very
sincere piece to me and being since have listened to Mozart in the past and with the
experience I have encountered with this selection, I will surly listen to his music again.
