The concert that I attended at Queens's borough Community College on November 28, presented "Jea Patton Quintet" in the humanities building. The performers consist of Jeb Patton who played the piano, Sachal Vasandani who was the vocalist, and Jerry Weldon who was the tenor sax player, David Wong who played the bass and Quincy Davis who played the drums.
The audience was casual and their demeanor was respectable and mature. The environment was relaxing and peaceful. The performers dress and demeanor was very causal. They had jeans and sneakers on and some with suits and dress shoes, not really coordinated. There level of accomplishment in my opinion is that they did a good job of keep the audience interested and they were lively.
The pieces that were preformed were "How am I to Know" singing about love and happiness. The next piece was "Back To You" was an up beat tempo and the vocalist had a couple of adlibs in there. The next was "Too Beautiful" it was a sad slow tempo song. Then it starts to get gradually louder and faster and the soloist was good. The nest piece was "Thou Swell" with a special guest Jerry Weldon on the Saxophone. This piece was very upbeat and the vocal list was skating most of the song. The nest piece was "Naked as we came" it was very mellow and slow tempo, very smooth. The Next piece was "I was just one more for you". This piece was started off by the piano and it was an up-tempo beat and it was relaxing. The last piece preformed was "Body and soul" this was a trio with piano vocals and saxophone. This piece was my favorite one because it opened my eyes it was just so up tempo and the way that the soloist on the piano played the piano great. The mood was happy and it was energetic and something that was almost to make you dance. The overall energy that the band had just made the music come out good and their unity that they had just made it even more special. They harmonized well with each other and they made the music work together. This type of music was in the Jazz content and it just made me feel happy inside. The last piece was my favorite. I also liked how they saved the best piece for last and everyone had there chance to shine in there solo time.
The whole experienced was a good experience and if I had to do it all again I would because I learned a lot and it was very interesting.
