"You're done for." Those were the only words I heard for at least 6 months. It was devastating. I was a national champion gymnast, I was going to go far in Gymnastics, quite possibly Olympic level, I could feel it. But, I never got to put that dream to the test. In the summer before 6th grade, I broke my elbow, badly. I tore tendons, broke bones, and dislocated the joint. There was no way I could do Gymnastics ever again. I had no clue what I was going to take up as a hobby to replace Gymnastics, it was like a part of me was missing. When I got into 6th grade, I needed to take an elective because I didn't have enough classes, and Phys Ed wasn't an option, so I ended up taking Chorus. I slowly got into it, my voice was very childish but it was surprisingly good considering I had never sung before. My director was also the Musical Theatre director, and she convinced me to audition for Annie Jr., where I got my first role of Ms. Hannigan. I loved being on stage, and singing for people. I have auditioned for almost every play I could since that play, and I have excelled greatly, beating out many, many people for an eleven-part ensemble play at New England Music Camp, a very well-known, slightly prestigious summer camp. I spend most of my time involving myself with theatre now. I don't know if I could forget about theatre because it such a big part of my life. If I had never broken my elbow, I would never be where I am now. I would still be relying on Gymnastics to carry me in life. This one accident has moved my life in a completely different direction than I thought I would be going in when I was in 6th grade.
