My personal Objectives/goals
Listening skills: friends and people have pointed out to me that I am in inpatient listener. I have found myself to be interrupting, making assumptions and making unnecessary comments during a conversation. I also get distracted easily and struggle to engage in a conversation when there is a lot going on in my surroundings, which makes me a distracted learner.
Time management- I struggle with time keeping. I find myself doing tasks or making decisions for tasks rather late or last minute.
How will I achieve these objectives/goals?
Listening skills: to achieve and better my listening skills I could participate in a listening skills course or training. I could also de-minimise my distractions, i.e. mobile phone. If I face difficulty engaging in a conversation I could find a quiet room with reduced noise to participate in a conversation.
Time management: in order to improve my time management skills, I need to get a dairy or a calendar and log my activities, this will help me brake down my tasks and availability step by step. This will also help me prioritize my time for the most important activities. Making a list of things I need to do will also help me avoid procrastinating.
I could also do an action plan or use a time log which can help me identify and organise my time .I could create a habit and try doing tasks or activates on a daily basis at a set time. Lastly I could participate in a time management course which will help me manage my time effectively.
What may be my barriers to achieving my objectives/goals?
