My Philosophy of Leadership
My own personal philosophy of leadership believes that leadership is a journey that consists of followers and leaders. It is a balance between work and personal successes and leadership is always helping people to find the best in themselves. A person with great leadership skills, spends time reflecting on their leadership and how its implications affect others. Leadership values integrity in personal and professional developments, respects leadership from all different types of perspectives and ways of knowing, and listens with respect and gratitude to others. The biggest challenge of any leader comes from within. It is who we are as a leader that dissuades us. My belief in the philosophies that leadership is a journey that consists of followers and leaders, spending time reflecting on leadership and its implications on others and respecting leadership from different perspectives and ways of knowing are what I find very valuable in a leader can be a matter of character. Personally, it is particularly those characteristics that my leadership is manifested.
In the past I would say that I have not really defined my role in leadership but instead have always believed that like myself, who you are and how you act towards others make you a leader, you set that example for others to follows. As a result, opportunities have been recommended, never initiated me on taking a role as a leader. As a child, I basically had a strong overpowering desire to help others which still continues to remain very evident in my life today.
The aspect of my leadership skills that I am most proud of is my ability to train those around me. As a good trainer, listening to my trainees; hearing their problems, and conducting the training accordingly is what I take pride in doing. My sole responsibility is the trainees and all interactions with them should convey that throughout the entire course of their training. I pride myself on being able to get my point across effectively without ever having to over-explain. As a great trainer, by portraying a welcoming classroom environment through smiling, maintaining eye contact, facing the trainees as much as possible and avoiding crossing my arms at all costs are just a few pointers that have helped with my ability to train others. Sometimes simply doing these things are enough to set a person at ease, which is exactly where you would want a person to be when beginning training.
My biggest leadership weakness is not having the patience in dealing with people
