Discussion
Experiment 1 were conducted to see their observation people only hold their breath for a short period of time. The results from experiment 1 supported the hypothesis where the build up of carbon dioxide derived from the metabolic activity stimulates us to take breath. We conduct 2 ways to observe hold breath before exercise in second (s) and hold breath after exercise in second (s) and tested by 5 different peoples (Izzudin,Firdaus,Faiq,Johny, kushaimin,Farid). We observed that when hold breath before exercise we can held breath longer compare to after exercise. Since we used time (s) to measured we can know before exercise make us to breath more longer where four of our team member (Izzudin,Firdaus,Faiq, kushaimin, johny) got average half a minute we can held our breath. However we also got unexpected result when one of our member group got higher range of time (s) to breath before exercise compare to other members. One explaination of this because during normal physical activity our body tissues used less oxygen thus produce less carbon dioxide. In this experiment independent variables is the exercise, for dependent variables is time (s) the breath was hold and for changed variables is the place where exercise was made. For the prediction , if the hypothesis is correct then people will hold their breath a shorter time just after exercise compared to when they at normal physical activity or rest. In the conclusion of this experiment, the test does falsify the hypothesis. The hypothesis for experiment 1 is accepted.
Experiment 2 were conducted to see their observation of the average body temperature for the tested subject is 34ºC . The result from experiment 1 supported the hypothesis the skin or at least some parts of the body are not 37ºC. In this experiment, we choosed 3 parts of our body armpit, elbow joint, ear and tested by 5 different peoples ( Izzudin,Firdaus,Faiq,Johny,Kushaimin,Farid) .We observed that we got an average 34ºC for the 3 type of body parts. Besides that, we used thermometer in ºC to measured the body parts. For this experiment we got nothing unexpected results because we all got an average almost same reading among us compare to experiment 1 but maybe there an error for reading of thermometer because of the temperature in the lab may be not same as normal room temperature due to air-conditioner in the lab. Explanation of this matter we can say the actual temperature in the body is 37ºC but because the skin act as a barrier to conserve our body temperature so measuring temperature on our epidermal skin layer will lead us to get less reading than 37ºC. In this experiment, independent variables is the different parts of body, for dependent variables is the skin temperature and for controlled variables is the place where the temperature was taken. For the prediction, if the hypothesis is correct then a clinical thermometer will recorded different temperature on the armpit, elbow joint and back of the ear. In the conclusion of this experiment, the test does falsify the hypothesis. The hypothesis for experiment 1 is accepted.
