Specific purpose: To inform my audience about developments that will impact positively on peace education in the future.
Central idea: Peace education development should be put to use in every school in the world in order to stop violent and useless actions.
Introduction:
I) The meaning of peace education: three distinctions in peace keeping.
II) Its contents start by discussing the causes of war and how to avoid it.
Body:
I) Definition of peace education:
A) Peace through school:
1) Establishing democratic classrooms.
2) Separate peace classes or integrate them in the curriculum
B) Peace education is about empowering people:
1) To maintain relations, create safe environments, and protect it.
2) It teaches love, compassion, non-violence, etc.
II) Examples:
A) Safe and Caring Schools Programs :
1) Alberta Teachers Association Safe and Caring Schools Program:
Providing over 60 sessions reducing violence and improving children's
conduct. It is designed for teachers, police, school administrators, etc.
2) BC Safe School Centre: Central source of information helping the youth, parents, etc.
3) The Canadian Safe School Network: Is an organization that will help reduce youth violence and ensure safer schools and communities.
B) United Nations/Hague Appeal for Peace Education Initiatives.
1) The HAP has two goals: public awareness, and promote teachers to teach for peace.
2) Campaigns to train teachers so that: children would learn the 4th R: reconciliation; and cure the causes of violence.
