Introduction to Personality
A person's personality is what makes everyone individuals and so unique. Due to personality is what makes everyone so different. An individual's personality can determine is a person is happy, dad, energetic, apathetic, smart, or dull. Personality evolves as a person grows and things change in their lives. The purpose of this paper is to define personality, examine research methodology, and to analyze the many factors that influence an individual's personality development.
When talking about personality and to truly understand personality a person must know what the actual definition of the word personality. Over years there has been many different definitions suggested for personality. There are also a lot of different theories and theorists when it comes to personality. So many in fact that a simple definition of the word personality is not possible it was not something that could be agreed upon. However after researching many different definitions and combining them together in order to give a definition of personality it would be looking at what make a person unique. It would be behaviors, a person's feelings, and how a person thinks is a good definition of what personality is. Personality is also characteristics that are consistent in a persons behavior. Personality is also a person's beliefs, morals, and values. Personalities are always changing due to environment and the company that a person is around.
Research methodology is really important in any field in order to create theories, gather data, and collecting data in order to analyze the data. There is six different criteria that must be met in order for a theory to be useful the six different criteria are: organizes data, it is consistent, produces research, that it is falsifiable, and that it is parsimonious. Research methodology is looking at how the research is done. Methodology in research methodology incorporates the different procedures that are used in order to interpret all of the data that has been gathered for the research. When researching the main method that is used is the scientific method. The steps in the scientific method are to develop a specific research question, once the specific question is in mind then a hypothesis is generated, the risks and benefits need to be identified, do the research, then gather and look at the data, form a conclusion, and then give the results of the test. While collecting the information for the research there are two types of data used for the data quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative data is the data that includes numbers such as percentages and statistics. The qualitative data is that data that is made up of observations and verbal abstracts. Both of these are equally important to doing research.
There are many different things and factor into the development of an individual's personality. Personality never stays the same and is always changing. When it comes to an individual's personality there are many different factors that apply to the development of an individual's personality. There are many different theories that are believed to help an individual's personality build on different factors such as parental influences, environmental factors, and learning factors are just a few that will be discussed below.
Parental influences play a huge role influencing the personality of individuals. As a child grows up they observe everything that their parents do, say, and how they act. All of this helps factor into the child's personality.
